Location & Architecture

Situated in the village of Nimmu, Nimmu House lwas built a century ago and is located at the confluence of two sacred rivers:  Indus and Zanskar ~ providing a spellbinding view on the rushing waters of the valley and the golden mountains of Ladakh.

This eco-resort was built to preserve the glorious architecture of the region keeping sustainability in mind with all materials sourced locally. Allowing you to immerse yourself in local culture while enjoying modern comforts.

Retreat & Relax

With many nooks and corners to hang out in, Nimmu house provides you with the prefect retreat space ~ read a book, gaze at the mighty Himalayas or simple listen to the sounds of nature. The property features a stable with yaks, dzos, cows and goats, terraces and a 4,500 square meters orchard with hundreds of fruit trees (apricot, apple, walnut).

We'll be staying in the heritage rooms, tastefully decorated as per Ladakhi tradition. Deluxe tents are available on request, at an additional cost.

You will enjoy the delightful meals prepared with fresh products sourced directly from the orchard, the garden, the cattle and local farms.

We will meet at the New Delhi Indira Gandhi International Airport on the morning of June 1st. The flight from Delhi to Leh is only 50 minutes long, but it’s very picturesque taking you over the Himalayas, a perspective only few are blessed to witness. Upon arrival we will drive to Nimmu House ~ 40 mins  and get settled. We’ll spend this day acclimating to the altitude, reading, getting to know one another and Nimmu House and leisurely exploring some of the magnificent grounds. We will also do a pranayama and yoga Nidra session to help settle in, followed by a sumptuous dinner.

Some of our activities over 7 days will include:

  • Visit to Thiksey Monastery, one of the most beautiful and influential monasteries in Ladakh.

  •  Visit to Alchi and Likir monasteries & seaspol meditation caves

  • Picnic on Zanskar River

  • Nimmu village guided tour

  • Half day hike of the Ney valley. /2 day hike (Ney valley)

  • Visit to Matho Monastery, the only Sakyapa Buddhist monastery in the area. This monastery, beautiful in its own right, also provides stunning vistas across the Indus Valley.

  • Visit to Shey Monastery and Shey Palace, which houses a beautiful 3-story Shakyamuni Buddha statue. At one time, Shey was the capital of the Ladakh region.

  • Sunset at Shanti Stupa and downtown Leh. Shanti Stupa, a beautiful white stupa built by Japanese Buddhists, provides a breathtaking view over the city of Leh and the surrounding mountains.

On the morning of June 8th, we’ll say farewell to Nimmu (and Ladakh!)
